Dear friends at PzG Inc.,

I just wanted to drop a note of sincere thanks for the last order I made.  You sent both the autographed book of Hans Schmidt and the book by Jutta Rudiger.  As I might have mentioned, my adopted mother lived in Berlin during the war...in fact the war ended on her birthday May 8, 1945.  These books were both very refreshing to her after all the revised history that she suffers through our main stream media.  She also has had to suffer criticism from many of her customers, as she works at a German antique store in a predominantly German community in Texas.  Her store has many items from the Third Reich and she gets all kinds of rude comments from insensitive people who were not at ground zero of the massive terror bombings of homes, schools, and food stores.  My mother lost not only her records, books, and personal belongings, but she lost friends, family, and her teenage years through having to live in bunkers everyday and scrounging for food and basic medical supplies.  She remained in the BDM until the last day of the war and only has the fondest memories of the girls group that hiked, sang, camped, and learned family values that we would be a better country here if we had the same things taught our youth.  

Anyway, I just want to thank you again for offering such fine books that brought my mother back to the golden years.

P.S.  When I visit her in October, I will scan a picture of her father's coffee factory after it was bombed by the allies.  Of course you know coffee was a "real" military target.  I will send you a picture of her father in the next couple of days in his uniform...he was in the Luftwaffe.  He did survive the war.  Her aunt, who is I believe 91 years old still lives in Berlin and worked for the RLM (Reich Luftwaffe Ministry) Headquarters for Hermann Goering in the secretarial pool.  She has some stories to tell like her meeting Leni Riefenstahl and many other dignitaries.

I am trying to amass all of my mom's childhood stories together along with pictures in hopes of having someone write a book about the war in Berlin through a young girls eyes.  The struggles of picking up shrapnel between bombings and turning it in to be recycled in order to get extra food rations are heartbreaking.
