GRR685 - Fictional Stalingrad Battle Shield
During the battle for Stalingrad, Hitler ordered the creation of a battle shield. The first design, featuring a German soldier lying dead in front of the grain elevators where heaving fighting had taken place, was rejected as too depressing. A second version, eliminated the soldier and substituted the Volga River, but was never instituted or produced for obvious reasons. The Stalingrad shield shown here is purely imaginary, and was first produced in England in 1979 from rusted metal in an apparent effort to deceive unwary collectors. The design is taken from a shoulder board device known as the Stalingrad Cross. It features a riveted cross pattee with a German eagle and swastika, as well as a scroll with the name Stalingrad, superimposed. Flanking the upper arm of the cross are the dates 1942 and 1943.

Thank you for the ridiculously prompt shipping. Just received the collar tabs I ordered. Two days after they were shipped. Impressive. The quality is definitely apparent in their craftsmanship. I had been looking for these for over a month and most of the ones I found were either poor quality, too expensive, or from some company in the UK or ones that stated 2 to 8 weeks for delivery. I am relived and affirmed for choosing PZG Inc. I am incredibly satisfied with my selection and purchase. Keep up the good work. These products aren't normally in my field of collecting but they fascinate me anyway's. If ever I am looking for similar products I at least know where I can confidentially shop for them, worry free. My Many thanks to you. Mark
