DAVID IRVING COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS
Since the Austrian court of appeal ordered my release it has taken over a year for the US Government to give me , a British writer, the (now obligatory) US visa. You probable know from your newspapers and TV that Austrian police arrested me at gun point and imprisoned me for a lecture on World War II - a lecture which I had delivered eighteen years earlier in Vienna - and that I was held for 400 days in solitary confinement in the country's oldest prison. Some folks just don't like Real History.
I am now a free man again and making what may well be my last visit to your country. I'll be speaking in private about my latest researches in secret files and what I have found in them about Hitler, Himmler, and the real truth about the Holocaust. And of course I'll be telling my friends, amongwhom I include you, a bit about that imprisonment too: why "old Europe" still finds it needs to lock up - together with rapists, drug dealers, white slavers, murderers - those historians, even best-sellers like myself, who find and publish WW2 history that veers away from what governments like people to believe.

David Irving released on Dec 21, 2006 after 400 days in solitary confinement.
BRITISH HISTORIAN DAVID IRVING was ambushed by eight Austrian Staatspolizei (Stapo) officers at gunpoint on November 11, 2005 when visiting Vienna to speak to university students on Adolf Eichmann, Joel Brand, and British code-breaking revelations.
The arrest warrant had been issued 16 years earlier, November 8, 1989, at the written demand (Anzeige) of a Communist-front body, the Dokumentations-Archiv des Osterreichischen Widerstands (Document Center of the Austrian Resistance), issued the day before, as court records revealed. Mr. Irving was charged under Austria's 1945 "Verbotsgesetz" (Banning Law) with having uttered illegal opinions on history at a 1989 talk. On February 20, 2006 at a show trial staged in Austria's largest criminal courtroom with 200 spectators, he was sentenced to three years in jail. His lawyers triumphed in the Court of Appeal and he was released on Dec 21, 2006 after 400 days in solitary confinement in Austria's oldest jailhouse.
DAVID IRVING GETS 3 YEARS IN PRISON FOR EXPRESSING AN OPINION

The court in Vienna Austria has sentenced the 67 year old historian to 3 years in prison on February 22, 2006 for expressing an opinion! We can only surmise but, from the facts that we know, David's lawyer made a deal with the court that if David recanted they would let him go. Unfortunately, David fell for their trap and is now destroying his own reputation as well as going to prison.
David's lawyer began stating back in December that David had made a mistake in saying that there were operational gas chambers at Auschwitz and other so-called death camps. When brought before the court David fulfilled his part of the unholy bargain and said with carefully chosen words that "It had been a mistake to say that there were no gas chambers.".
When the court read out their evil verdict Irving was stunned according to eyewitnesses. Obviously the court had not honored their part of the bargain. Now Irving will be out circulation for the next 3 years and no doubt when he is set free in 2009 he will be an old and broken man! David's last words to the court were that you should not go to jail for expressing an opinion. Now that David has re-canted about the gas chambers he is suddenly reinstated as an acknowledged historian with 30 books to his credit by the news media who just months ago said that he was untrained. No doubt David thought about recanting the same as Galileo did when the Catholic church was going to burn him at the stake for saying the earth was round in 1633. After all saying that the earth was flat did not make it flat.
We can not blame David for recanting under duress as everyone knows such statements are not legally binding. However, the world will now suffer a terrific loss because the following works may never come to the light of day Churchill's War vol. 3, Roosevelt's War & Himmler were all currently being written. And, David's family is now destitute! We will advise about future fund raisers. David has vowed to appeal his case and to write Irving's War!
DAVID IRVING SPENDS CHRISTMAS 2005 IN PRISON

British historian David Irving was arrested while on a one-day visit to Vienna and is being held under laws against denying the Holocaust. An interior ministry spokesman said police in the province of Styria acted on a warrant issued in 1989 to arrest him.
ARRESTED FOR DOUBTING THE USE OF GAS CHAMBERS
IN A LECTURE 16 YEARS AGO!
An Austrian court decided to deny bail to historian David Irving and to keep the 66 year old author of over 30 books on WW II history in a Viennese prison in isolation over Christmas.
The court refused a US$10,000 to US$20,000 bail offer from Mr. Irving refusing to release him, stating that once released he could easily go to England and England would not extradite him. The case will go to trial, at the earliest in January of 2006. (Update 01/21/06: His trial date has been pushed back to February 22, 2006) The case will be heard by a jury. (three judges and eight citizens) and it will last only one day. "
A specialist on the Third Reich, he had been invited by courageous students to address an ancient university association in the Austrian capital. Despite precautions, the Austrian political police are believed to have learned of Irving's visit from wiretaps or the interception of e-mails.
"If we want to know who rules, we must look at those whom we are not allowed to criticize."
A special privilege has been created for the Holocaust that has not been extended to any other event of world history. Anybody can research the victims of genocide in the Soviet Union, in Cambodia or the Ukraine and express just about any opinion and remain a free man.
It is ironic that this prolific scholar would be arrested and detained on November 11th, Veterans Day, the day on which we commemorate the men and women who died to secure basic freedoms - among them, freedom of speech!

I just wanted to say a big thank you for highlighting the appalling injustice that is being perpetrated against David Irving. Before I read your website I thought I was the only one outraged by this medieval witch-hunt being led against free thinkers like Mr Irving. It gave me a lot of comfort to see that I'm not alone.
I've read all of Mr Irving's WW2 books and have always found them to be refreshingly original in their portrayal of events I had often questioned in my own mind. Through his collected works he effectively demolishes the myth of the Nuremberg trials, shows what a redeemed hero Hermann Goering became, shows how Britain squandered its real chances for peace with
Hitler and generally debunks and confronts all of the force-fed patronising propaganda we've been spoon-fed since birth. He even prods gentle fun at Rommel who is the only German soldier it seems acceptable to the allies.
I'm currently reading Mr Irving's account of the 1956 Hungarian uprising which is riveting and confirms once again a lot of the doubts other books had raised about the characters involved. Mr Irving's defeat in his libel trial and consequent financial ruin (inevitable when pitted against the combined weight of Spielberg & co.)has effectively robbed modern history of one of its greatest free thinkers. Mr Irving sits imprisoned and ruined while authors like Ian Kershaw make millions parroting their tired anti-German cant. David Irving is ,incredibly, the only WW2 historian of renown who can in fact read,write and speak German. Can you believe that Trevor-Roper, Bullock, Taylor and Kershaw are unable to utter a word of German and yet are considered the leading historians of the period!! It would be like a German writing a biography of Churchill without understanding English!!! Unbelievable!!
Anyway, I fear that the dark forces of yiddish money and PC fascism will ensure that Mr Irving faces a bleak future. You have certainly bravely done your part to help.
