Reinhard Heydrich The Biography Volume 1 Road to War
INTRODUCTION: Who was Reinhard Heydrich, and why, some sixty years after his assasination in 1942, does he continue to generate so much interest?
During his relatively short life, Heydrich became a controversial, enigmatic character, and ingenious diplomatic negotiator. His subordinates were often amazed at the extent of his memory and his ability to wuickly understand difficult reports which had taken hours to prepare. Heydrich's breadth of talent excelled beyond his Party and government posts, to the sports field and musical arts.
His life had been one of controversy, which still continues to this day. Labeled by some as the author of the "final solution" to the Jewish question, Heydrich has been branded as a 20th century Machiavellian. Others in admiration of his intelligence, sporting and musical talents, have bestowed upon him the iconic status of a Renaissance man.
Assasinated at the pinnacle of his success, SS-Obergruppenfuehrer Heydrich was afforded a state funeral in the Mosaic Room of the new Reich Cancellery. The Führer and Reichchancellor of the Third German Reich, Adolf Hitler, patted the cheeks of the dead mans' children, and absentmindedly muttered "Heydrich, he was a man with a heart of iron". Eleven years before his death, at the age of 27, Heydrich was an unemployed, ex-naval officer with little or no prospects. How could he have attained the position as possible heir apparent to the most powerful man in Europe - Adolf Hitler.

Reinhard Heydrich The Biography Volume 2 Enigma
INTRODUCTION: The critical meeting with Reichsfuehrer-SS Heinrich Himmler in the summer of 1931 would despatch the new SS recruit down a road of promotions, where he would reach the pinnacle of his new career. He would not only rub shoulders with statesmen royalty and military leaders, but would also be viewed with apprehension by many of their number. Although not necessarily liked, he gained the respect of his subordinates and most politicians who came into contact with him. Heydrich was highly regarded, some might say feared by his superiors. Himmler must have had misgivings about Heydrich's new elevated status when he was appointed as Acting Reichsprotektor of Bohemia Moravia, allowin him to by-pass the Reichsfuehrer with direct access to Hitler.
Without doubt, the multi-talented SS-Obergruppenfuehrer and General of Police Reinhard Heydrich was destined for even greater things after his radical method of government in the Czech Protectorate reaped success for the Hitler executive. With the assassination of Heydrich, his sweeping plans for the National Socialist administration of occupied France, under SS direction, would never see the light of day. The death of Reinhard heydrich had a profound effect on the SS and the National Socialist State; they had lost one of their finest, a man with rare talents and skills which would not be matched by those individuals who had to take over Heydrich's responsibilities.
